About Plano, TX Plano is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex in northeast Texas. On its south are Richardson and Dallas, on its north, McKinney and Frisco, on its east, Wiley, and on its southwest, Irving. The East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) is the second largest mosque in Plano, the largest being the Islamic Association of Collin County. A large number of Muslim families have settled in Plano due to its proximity to three full-time Islamic schools, IT-based companies, cheaper homes, and convenient location. There are approximately 15 mosques of various sizes in a 30-mile radius. The summer in Plano is hot and winter cold but relatively short and generally snow-free.
